[00:20.30]Once upon a time,there lived a woodman and his wife. ;
[00:25.53]They were very poor, and they lived in a cottage on the edge of a forest. ;
[00:31.53]Every day,the wood-man would set out early in the morning to chop down trees. ;
[00:38.61]As the woodman was traveling through the forest one day, ;
[00:42.76]he saw a fine old oak tree."That will make plenty of planks," he thought, ;
[00:49.53]as he felt the blade of his axe to make sure it was sharp. ;
[00:54.92]He was about to strike the tree with the axe, ;
[00:58.61]when he heard someone crying out:"Please don't hurt this tree." ;
[01:04.15]The woodman looked around him and saw a tiny fairy. ;
[01:09.22]"If you do not hurt this tree,"she said, ;
[01:12.61]"I will grant you and your wife three wishes." ;
[01:16.92]"I won't hurt the tree,"said the woodman kindly. ;
[01:21.38]Then the fairy vanished!That evening,the woodman walked slowly home. ;
[01:28.92]He was feeling very hungry and could not wait for his supper. ;
[01:33.68]"Is my supper ready?" the woodman asked his wife. ;
[01:38.61]"Not for at least two hours,"replied his wife. ;
[01:42.45]So the woodman sat in a chair by the fire. ;
[01:46.45]"I wish I had a big black sausage to eat right now,"he sad out loud. ;
[01:51.99]And suddenly,a delicious sausage appeared on the table before him! ;
[01:57.99]"Why has that black sausage suddenly appeared?"the wood- man's wife asked. ;
[02:03.68]So the woodman told his wife the story about the fairy. ;
[02:07.84]But his wife was very angry. ;
[02:10.76]"You have wasted the first of our wishes, "she said crossly. ;
[02:15.68]"I wish that sausage wear on your nose!" ;
[02:19.38]And with that,the sausage jumped up and stuck fast on the woodman's nose. ;
[02:25.53]His wife could not pull it off and nor could he, ;
[02:29.68]so the only thing to do was to wish it on the table again,wh- ich the woodman did. ;
[02:36.45]What a waste of three wishes! ;
[02:39.68]The only thing the woodman had was a good supper of black sausage. ;
[02:47.68] Text B They Threatened Me With a Knife ;
[02:54.15] POLICE INSPECTOR: Good evening,sir. ;
[02:56.76] I understand that you have been robbed. ;
[02:59.22]MR LEE:I certainly have. P.I.:When did this happen? ;
[03:03.99]MR LEE:About two hours ago. P.I.:Why didn't you report it before? ;
[03:09.38]MR LEE:I couldn't. I was bound and gagged. ;
[03:13.22]P.I.:Please tell me exactly what happened. ;
[03:16.30]MR LEE:I was sitting in this room ;
[03:18.91] watching television when someone knocked on the door.Without thinking,I opened it ;

[03:28.45]MR LEE:I know.I was expecting my wife, you see,and thought it was her. ;
[03:33.89]P.I.:You should never open a door without looking to see who it is. ;
[03:38.35]MR LEE:Yes,I know. I regret it very much. P.I.:What happened? ;
[03:44.55]MR LEE:Two men pushed into the flat.One of them threatened me with a knife ;

[03:55.94]MR LEE:I'm afraid not.They were both wearing stockings over their faces. ;

[08:25.68]From that seed the oak can grow fifty feet tall. ;

[08:37.27]but I never knew they were real like me.One sunday I was angry. ;
[08:44.14]When my uncle came, I said:"I don't have anything.I wish I had something." ;
[08:51.68]"You have everything worth having,"he said. "And I will give you even more. ;
[08:59.33]I will give some secrets of the Universe. ;

[13:04.13] Text A Do You Know Who I Am? ;
[13:09.26]Mr Smith is well known in Washington because of his many social blunders. ;
[13:16.44]He always likes to attend the various social functions ;
[13:20.95]because he wants to expand his circle of friends. ;
[13:24.85]Whenever he is invited he goes,unless he is ill. ;
[13:29.98]Recently he received an invitation to a fashionable banquet. ;
[13:36.03]Although he did not know the hostess,he accepted the invitation. ;
[13:42.39]He was secretly very pleased, ;
[13:45.62]because he felt that his reputation as a desirable guest was growing. ;
[13:50.95]When he arrived at the banquet hall, ;
[13:53.98]he found that about one hundred people had been invited. ;
[13:58.64]He began to move around the hall. ;
[14:01.47]He spoke to other guests whether he knew them or not. ;
[14:06.44]He soon realized that he had never met any of the other people present, ;
[14:11.93]although they seemed to know each other. ;
[14:14.69]At dinner,he was seated beside a very dignified woman. ;
[14:20.44]The woman tried to be friendly even though she had never met Mr Smith before. ;
[14:26.54]She spoke politely, whenever he spoke to her. ;
[14:31.31]Between the first and second course of the meal,she turned to Mr Smith and said ;
[14:37.98]"Do you see that gray-haired man at the end of the table? ;
[14:42.59]The one with the glasses." "Ah,yes. Who is he?"asked Mr Smith. ;
[14:49.82]"He's the Secretary of the Interior!" she replied. ;
[14:54.39]Mr Smith said:"So that's the Secretary of the Interior! ;
[14:59.77]I'm afraid that I find very little to admire about him, ;
[15:04.13]although he is the Secretary."The woman stiffened and did not reply. ;
[15:10.95]Smith continued in spite of her coldness. ;
[15:14.90]"I really can't see how he received his appointment, ;
[15:18.80]unless he is perhaps a relative of the President." ;
[15:22.90]"It hardly matters whether you like the Secretary or not,"she said. ;
[15:27.98]"He was chosen because the President thought he was the man for the job. ;
[15:32.54]If he does the job well,you should have no complaint." ;
[15:37.46]"That's just it," persisted Smith. ;
[15:40.85]"No one does the things he does, unless he is a complete fool!" ;

[21:50.43]Just then two of the children carried him off to a room with three bunk beds ;

[22:10.17]A third child elbowed his way in, and Henry flopped to the floor. ;
[22:16.43]Before he could crawl under one of the beds,a pillow fight broke out. ;
[22:22.17]Thwack!A pillow smacked into Henry's face.He barked.Loud! ;
[22:28.63]Mrs Washburn came scurrying down the hallway. ;

[22:36.22]"Why,Henry!"scolded Mrs Washburn."You never barked like that before! ;

[23:41.40]"Don't hurt Baby, Henry." Days,weeks, months passed. ;
[23:48.02]Henry learned to put up with pillow fights and strawberry kisses. ;
[23:54.74]He learned to ignore the neighbour's cat ;
[23:57.35]and to wriggle Christmas ribbons off his neck. ;
[24:01.04]He even learned to eat steamy ham bones. ;
[24:05.71]And then one day everything changed. Just.Like.That. ;

[24:26.12]Tears streamed down their cheeks. "Good-bye,Henry," they sniffled sadly. ;

[25:55.14]and as he drifted off to sleep,he was thinking to himself: ;
