(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
US auto1 maker2 General Motors will not become part of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Instead of continuing their negotiations3 until October 15th, as they had announced, GM chief executive Rick Wagoner called Carlos Ghosn, who runs French auto company Renault (which has a controlling interest in Japanese carmaker Nissan) to tell him that they were not interested in further negotiations after Renault rejected GM's request that Renault pay several extra billion dollars for all the value that GM claimed to bring to the alliance. Renault representatives have talked of seeking an alliance with a different American partner, but have not named one; because of Daimler Benz's 1998 acquisition of Chrysler, Ford4 is the only remaining "Big Three" American auto maker that can help Renault and Nissan compete more strongly against Toyota in the United States.
