Chinese vessel¹ on site to relocate objects spotted² in MH370 search
Chinese patrol ship Haixun 01 reached its target area late Friday night to relocate objects spotted earlier in the day by airborne searchers for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
Due to poor visibility at night, no major sightings were reported, but a few light-colored, palm-size floating objects.
The Chinese vessel moved into the designated patch of the southern Indian Ocean after the Australian Maritime³ Safety Authority (AMSA) asked it to relocate the objects a New Zealand aircraft spotted in Friday's search.
 
China, Germany establish comprehensive strategic partnership⁴
Chinese President Xi Jinping has met in Berlin with his German counterpart, Joachim Gauck, for discussions on bilateral⁵ ties and issues of common concern.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping said leaders of the two countries have kept the development of bilateral relations in the right direction since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Germany.
To keep sustained and stable development of bilateral relations, Xi Jinping proposed, the two countries should first continue enhancing mutual⁶ understanding and political mutual trust, and always respect each other's core interest and major concerns.
Meanwhile, the two sides need to continuously strengthen all-dimensional practical cooperation and work together to enhance mutual understanding and affection between their peoples.

China urges calm after Ukraine resolution abstention
China hs renewed its call for all parties to avoid acts that could intensify⁹ conflicts in Ukraine.
Speaking in the wake of China's abstention over the UN General Assembly resolution on the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Ministry¹⁰ spokesman Hong Lei said, "China upholds fairness and objectiveness on the Ukraine issue."
He said all parties should avoid antagonism¹¹ and complicating¹² the situation and make efforts to create a favorable environment for a political solution.
"China proposes to set up an international coordinating¹³ mechanism¹⁴ composed of relevant parties to discuss ideas and ways for the issue's political solution," according to Hong.
He said it is imperative¹⁵ to ease tension, narrow differences through talks, seek consensus¹⁶, and push forward the political solution.
 
China slams Abe's territorial¹⁷ dispute Crimea analogy
A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry hash slammed an analogy drawn¹⁸ by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe between their territorial disputes and the situation in Crimea.
Hong Lei said Shinzo Abe hypocritically pledged to improve China-Japan relations while speaking ill of China in the international community, referring to Abe raising the two countries' territorial disputes during a discussion on Crimea at the G7 meeting in the Hague earlier this week.
The spokesman said Abe''s words again exposed his intention to confuse the public and defame China. However, this cannot deceive the international community.
Hong Lei accused Japan of "illegally stealing" China's Diaoyu Islands and "breaking the status quo of shelving disputes."
 
China welcomes ROK's return of soldiers' remains¹⁹
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says South Korea's return to China of the remains of Chinese soldiers killed in the 1950-53 Korean War will strengthen friendly feelings of the two peoples towards each other.
He made made the comment at a daily news briefing as the remains of 437 Chinese soldiers were returned to China on Friday morning.
Hong Lei said Chinese President Xi Jinping thanked his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye for her country's assistance during their meeting in the Netherlands.
A Chinese plane carrying the coffins²⁰ of the soldiers landed at an airport in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province Friday morning.
 
Website launched for China-Russia Youth Year
The official website of the China-Russia Youth Year of Friendship Exchanges was launched in ST. Petersburge on Friday, heralding²¹ events to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

China launches crackdown on fake journalists
Chinese press authorities have launched a new crackdown on illegal media and fake journalists.
The campaign, which will run until September, will focus on illegal online media and people who defraud²⁵ or extort²⁶ money by pretending to be journalists, according to a joint²⁷ statement released on Friday.
In a previous campaign running from December last year to the end of February, authorities investigated 136 criminal cases involving fake journalists and confiscated²⁸ over 1.3 million illegal newspapers and magazines.
 
China launches campaign against guns, explosives
China's Ministry of Public Security has launched a campaign against crimes involving guns and explosives.
In a videophone conference on Friday, the ministry said the situation of crimes involving guns and explosives in the country is still serious, urging police nationwide to check all leads so as to seize as many guns and explosives as possible.
Under Chinese law, members of the public are banned from owning firearms and explosives. The police conducted several campaigns to seize such illegal goods in recent years and successfully contained a growth in crimes involving their use.
