 US President Barack Obama's about to meet congressional leaders at the White House for talks on the government shutdown.He's already told them he won't be making any concessions¹ on(口误) to break that political deadlock².Senior US intelligence officials have warned the shutdown is jeopardizing³ national security.

Police in Sydney have arrested a man after three people were stabbed at a backpackers' hostel¹¹ in the CBD.The man allegedly stabbed one woman and two men with a piece of glass after a fight broke out.He fled the scene,but was apprehended¹² a short time later. The three people were taken to hospital with wounds to their faces, necks and arms.
