 Let’s take a look at the satellite image. Southeastern Australia is bracing¹ for a burst of cold weather this weekend with temperatures set to drop to zero in many regions. A strong cold front in trough producing showers and thunderstorms over South Australia and Western Victoria. Moist southeasterly winds are producing showers on the Queensland coast and a high of the coast of WA is directing cold southerlies over the southwest of the state.

 

Around the country, for Queensland, the cold gusty² change in the south with patchy rain and the odd storm in the southeast. Mostly dry for the rest of the state. 

 

Showers and storms for the south and west in New South Wales. Snows were about 800 meters on the southern ranges. Windy conditions on the coast. 

 

Cold and cloudy in Tasmania, showers heaviest in the north of the state, but mainly dry in the south. 

 

For South Australia, showers and small hail over the coast and hills. Partly cloudy and dry in the far north. 

 

A cold start for the south of WA with light showers on the south coast. Sunny in the west.

 

The odd shower over the north coast of the territory. Cold and gusty conditions in the south.

 

And looking ahead to the tomorrow’s forecast for the capitals. Brisbane, sunny. A shower or two in Sydney and Canberra. Showers for Melbourne and Hobart. Adelaide, showers easing. Sunny in Perth and Darwin.
