First up, some good news for you this Sunday, a slow decline to the icy waters in the North Dakota's Red River. The National Weather Service is calling for a significant drop by next Sunday. Meantime, Fargo's mayor tell CNN water that apparently1 seeped2 under a dam has flooded one of the city's high schools along with three homes. A contingency3 dike4 was able to contain some of that flooding.
Across the plain states, now the governors of Kansas and Oklahoma have declared disasters after a blizzard5 dumps more than two feet of late spring snow.The storm knocked out power to tens of thousands of people, at least two deaths are being blamed on that storm.
Defense6 Secretary Robert Gates told a weekend news program he believes month, the next month's planned rocket launch is a mask for development of intercontinental ballistic missiles. The North has maintained the launches for commercial satellites still, both the US and Japan have mobilized defenses in preparation for that launch.
Turkish officials count ballots7 after today's nationwide municipal elections. Voters' cast ballots on more 90,000 positions around the country. Voters are deciding everything from big city mayors to small village leaders. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan party is hoping to hold on to its power.
Tens of thousands of protestors are marching in Berlin, London and major cities across Europe.They are demanding more jobs, environmental accountability and an end to poverty and inequality. Here is some of the first of what's expected to be six days of protests and demonstrations8. They are targeting this week's G-20 summit in London on the global economic crisis.
