Taiwan's mainland affairs chief Wang Yu-chi says his four-day visit to the Chinese mainland was a "good beginning."

He told reporters in Taipei that the visit was an important milestone¹ in cross-Strait relations.

During his visit, Wang held his first formal meeting with his mainland counterpart Zhang Zhijun, head of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

Wang said that the visit improved mutual² understanding, although one visit was not enough to achieve all goals.

He said that efforts will be made to further institutionalize cross-Strait ties,

in a bid to achieve perpetual peace and stability.

He says to fight property rights violation and counterfeiting will be an uphill and enduring war

and it calls for further persistent⁷ and innovative⁸ efforts.

China cracked 320,000 cases of property rights violation in 2013, and caught 53,000 suspects.

In 2014, measures will be retained to fight crimes of producing and selling fake agricultural production materials, foods or medicines.
