The Chinese military has publicized a list of 16 senior officers, corps1 level and above, who were put under investigation2 for alleged3 corruption4 in 2014.
The list includes some names that had been released before, including former vice5 chairman of the Central Military Commission Xu Caihou, the most senior military leader to be probed for corruption since 1949.
It also reveals some new names, including Liu Zheng, deputy head of the PLA's General Logistics Department.
Among the 16, one has been convicted already, and sentenced to life imprisonment6. Nine others will see their cases handled through the military prosecuting7 office.
Judicial8 authorities from China and the United States are curfently meeting in Beijing to discuss cooperation in the hunt for fugitives9 and the recovery of stolen assets.
Representatives from the U.S. Justice Department and the Treasury10 Department's Internal Revenue Service are attending the discussions.
The meeting aims to step up efforts to capture Chinese fugitives hiding in the United States.
China's Ministry11 of Public Security says it would conduct more talks with U.S. law enforcement authorities this year, including the FBI.
