South African President Jacob Zuma has met visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Cape1 Town, with the two sides vowing2 to strengthen industrial cooperation.
During the meeting, Zuma says African countries are eager to step up industrialization, a process where Chinese engagement is welcomed.
For his part, Wang Yi says industrial cooperation will be a focus at this year's Forum3 on China-Africa Cooperation, which will be held in South Africa.
Wang adds that boosting the public health system in countries around the continent and promoting peace and stability in Africa will also top the agenda.
The Chinese government is rebuffing comments made by Philippine President Benigno Aquino.
Aquino has been characterizing Chinese construction activities in the South China Sea as "unreasonable4."
In dismissing the comments, the Chinese Foreign Ministry5 has issued a new statement, saying the island fall entirely6 within Chinese sovereignty.
The Chinese government also suggests the Philippines have been occupying a number of Chinese islands and reefs in the South China Sea since the 1970s.
