The death toll¹ from the heat wave currently gripping India has surpassed 13-hundred,

with temperatures soaring above 47 degrees in certain parts of the country.

Southern India's Andhra Pradesh has recorded over a thousand deaths.

"From last one week, we are suffering a lot due to the heat wave. Mercury is soaring.

Pets, children, grandparents are suffering a lot because of the (heat) wave.

Even we can see a simple person sitting in the home, sweating a lot due to dehydration².

Night time also because of the power cuts and from the morning and the night and in the middle of the daty,

the power cuts are creating a lot of problems for the households and for all the family members."

Doctors in the State are being recalled to help treat people suffering from sun-stroke.

Forecasters are suggesting the heat wave may start subsiding³ later on this Friday.
