2015年CRI China Exercises Strict Control over Military Trade: Spokesperson

 

China says it has exercised strict and effective control over military trade.

Foreign Ministry¹ Spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks in response to a report saying China-made man-portable air defense² systems had fallen into the hands of militants³ in Iraq and Syria.

The report also questioned the capacity of countries that purchased the weapons, like South Sudan, to ensure the security of depots⁴. 

Hong Lei said the report was untrue.

"China does not export weapons to non-state entities⁵ or countries and regions that come under the arms embargo⁶ sanctions of the U.N. Security Council."

Hong Lei added that China requires the recipient⁷ country to provide end-user and end-use certification and make a clear commitment not to transfer those weapons to a third party without China's permission.
