Horse-powered garbage hauler runs on city road

A video out of Yunnan showing what appears to be a horse-driven garbage carriage has gone viral in China.

The local sanitation¹ department is denying the antiquated² garbage hauling method.

A local claiming to have seen the man on numerous occasions has provided an alternate suggestion. "I had chat with him before, he is a farmer living in the countryside and feeds quite a bit of livestock³, so he often goes to vegetable markets to collect leftovers⁴ and leaves as forage⁵ in the evening," said the witness. "He thinks using garbage truck can help him avoid checks by the police," he added.

While almost non-existent in today's major cities in China, carts pulled by draught⁶ animals, including horses and mules⁷, can still sometimes be found in smaller cities, particularly in the rural areas of the country.
