Chinese President Xi Jinping has declared the opening of the 14th National Games in Xi'an, capital city of Shaanxi province.

中国国家主席习近平宣布第十四届全运会在陕西省省会西安开幕。

The 14th National Games, which will run from September 15 to 27, feature 54 sports and 595 events.

第十四届全运会将于9月15日至27日举行，共设54个大项和595个小项。

More than 12,000 athletes are set to compete in the finals stage of the games.
