New COVID strains behind surge cases in UK and South Africa

 

Both the UK and South Africa have found new variants¹ of COVID-19 but the positive news is, the WHO says the new strains won’t affect the efficiency of testing kits², a confidence echoed by Chinese experts. At the same time, pharmaceutical³ companies are also testing their vaccines⁴ against these new strains of the virus and their results are expected in the coming weeks.
