　　There are some amazing animals in the world. Tell us about some. 世界上有一些神奇的动物。给我们说一些吧。

　　Do you know what the largest animal in the world is? 你知道世界上最大的动物是什么吗？

　　I think so. It's some kind of whale, right? 我想想。是某种鲸鱼吗？

　　Yes! A blue whale can be 32 meters long. And it eats about 3,600 kilograms of food a day! 没错！蓝鲸有32米长。它一天会吃掉大约3600公斤的食物。

　　What about the smallest animal? 那最小的动物是什么呢？

　　That's a little harder to decide. There are some tiny animals out there. 这有点儿难说。世界上有一些极小的动物。

　　Tell me about one. 给我讲一种吧。

　　Well, the bumblebee bat's body is only about 30 millimeters¹ long. 凹脸蝠体长只有30毫米左右。

　　That's pretty small! Where do they live? 那也太小了！它们生活在哪里？

　　They live in Thailand. No one knew about them until 1973! 它们生活在泰国。直到1973年，才有人知道这种动物。

　　Interesting! How much do they weigh? 有意思！它们有多重呢？

　　They weigh about two grams. 大约2克左右。

　　Tell me another interesting animal fact. 给我讲讲另外有关动物的趣闻吧。

　　Well, one of my favorite animals moves very slowly. 好的，我最喜欢的一种动物里，有一种移动非常缓慢。

　　What animal is that? 那是什么动物？

　　A sloth². It's the slowest land animal. It moves only 0.24 kilometers an hour! 树懒。这是陆地动物中最慢的。它每小时大约只移动0.24千米。

　　So it takes more than four hours to go a kilometer? Wow! 所以这种动物移动1千米要超过4个小时的时间？哇！

　　They're slow because their claws are so long. But they don't walk much. They spend most of their time in trees. 它们很慢，因为它们的爪子非常长。但是它们不会走很多路。它们大多数时间都待在树上。
