 　　In school, students study and learn to work with others. 在学校中，学生读书，并且学着和其他人一起合作。

　　They should feel safe in school. 他们在学校中应该要感到很安全。

　　You can't study well when you feel scared. 当你感到很害怕的时候，你就没办法好好学习。

　　Bullies¹ scare others, so they can be a big problem at schools. 恶霸会让其他人害怕，所以他们可能是学校中的一个大问题。

　　Bullies make school a cruel and scary place. 恶霸使得学校成为一个残忍、令人害怕的地方。

　　Many people can be mean sometimes. But bullies are different. 许多人有时会变得很恶劣，但是恶霸不一样。

　　They pick on their victims over and over again. 他们会一而再地欺负受害者。

　　Bullies hurt people in different ways. 恶霸以不同方式伤害别人。

　　Sometimes they hit others. 有时候他们会殴打其他人。

　　But more often, they hurt people with their words. 但更普遍的是，他们会用言语伤害别人。

　　They say mean things about other students. 他们会说其他学生的坏话。

　　Almost 30 percent of American students are bullied² at school. 大约有30%的美国学生会在学校中遭受霸凌。

　　Bullying⁴ is usually worst during junior high school. 在初中阶段，霸凌通常会最严重。

　　But bullies don't stop being cruel when they finish school. 但是当恶霸从学校毕业之后，还会继续让人受欺负。

　　Bullying is also common at work and on the Internet. 在工作中，在互联网上，霸凌也很常见。

　　So what can you do to stop bullying? 那么，你能做什么来阻止霸凌呢？

　　1.Tell the bully³ to stop. 1.要求恶霸停手

　　When you see a bully bothering someone, tell him or her to stop. 当你看到一个恶霸在骚扰某人，要求他或她停手。

　　When people speak up, 57 percent of bullying stops within 10 seconds. 当人们出声喝止时，57%的霸凌会在10秒钟内停止。

　　2.If you are a victim, ask for help. 2.如果你是一名受害者，发声求助。

　　Only 20-30 percent of victims tell someone about bullying. 只有20%-30%的受害者会跟别人说关于霸凌的事。

　　3.Help victims of bullying. Be their friend. 3.帮助遭受霸凌的受害者。和他们成为朋友。

　　Together, we can make schools safe for everyone. 只要同心协力，我们会让学校成为一个让所有人都安全的地方。
