 Students work hard at school. 学生们在学校里努力学习。

But school isn't all work. Schools also have celebrations². 但是学校不只是读书而已。学校还有很多活动。

Some celebrations raise money for a school. 有一些活动是为了给一所学校筹集款项。

Others are just for fun. 其他的活动只是为了娱乐。

Schools in America have festivals or carnivals³. 美国的学校有各种节日或者是嘉年华。

Students and parents sell food and drinks. There are games, too. 学生和家长们会卖食品和饮料。他们也会做游戏。

Sometimes students perform. They sing or dance for parents and friends. 有时候学生还会表演节目。他们会为父母和朋友唱歌、跳舞。

In Asia, schools hold parties, too. 在亚洲，学校也会举行派对。

These often celebrate the school's birthday or anniversary⁴. 这些派对通常是庆祝学校的生日或者纪念日。

Students decorate their school. 学生们会装饰自己的学校。

They prepare food. They also prepare games. 他们会准备食物和游戏。

People can play these and win prizes. 参加的人会做游戏，并赢得奖品。

Students invite guests. 学生们会邀请嘉宾前来。

Former⁵ students often attend⁶, too. 以前的学生也经常会参加。

The guests can look around the school. 这些嘉宾会在学校四处参观。

The celebration¹ lasts all day. Everyone has fun. 庆祝活动会持续一整天。每个人都会玩儿得很开心。

Many schools also have sports days. 另外，许多学校也会举行运动会。

On sports days, students run races. 在运动会上，学生们会赛跑。

They throw or kick balls. They also jump. 他们会扔球、踢球，也会跳跃。

Sometimes there are also silly races. 有时候他们还会参加趣味竞赛。

Students work in teams. For example, each team member carries an egg in a spoon. 学生们要团队合作。比如说，队伍里的每个成员都要用勺子盛鸡蛋。
