(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
Usually, we go about our daily lives wanting to be as efficient as possible. For that reason, we may plan trips, commuting1 or errands2 going as directly as possible from one point to the next. To go a longer way, away from the most efficient path, seems illogical and time-wasting. If, on the other hand, a friend, colleague, family member or business associate asks us for some special favor, such as giving them a ride someplace or buying something for them, we may be willing to "go out of our way" on their behalf. This will take longer, but we make a special effort for the sake of good relations with them. If the people we help appreciate this, it will be worthwhile "going out of our way."
