(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
to REACH for the SKY (or STARS) Logically1, we all know that the sky above us contains some clouds, miles of atmosphere, and endless empty space above that. No matter how tall we are, no matter how high we can reach, we can never reach or touch the sky or stars. So knowing that, why would anyone want to reach for the sky or stars? It seems like an impossible endeavor2. Yet, that is exactly the point: We need an idiom to explain how, although we know our dreams may seem impossible to reach, we still want to try anyway. It is like being a contestant3 in a national singing contest. The odds4 against winning5 are very large, but everyone who tries believes he might win, and one actually will win. All of them, however, can enjoy the experience of reaching for the sky, even if most of them fail.
