Well, Jennifer Aniston now is saying that she wants that "Pitt"-y party to end, her words. Telling Vogue1 magazine, she doesn't want anyone to feel sorry for her because of her very public breakup with Brad Pitt. She also says that she is tired of being quoted part of a sick and twisted "Bermuda Triangle". Katrina Szish is with me, the editor of "US Weekly". And out in LA, Ashley Dillahunty is the west coast writer for "In Touch Weekly"magazine. Welcome, the both of you.She doesn't want the sympathy, right?
She doesn't.
I think she is getting it, though.
Katrina: She is getting the sympathy. Everybody is on Jen's side. Everyone thinks she is the woman scorned and she just wanted to pursue her career.
So, Katrina, a smart strategy?
Katrina: Smart strategy? She's got everybody behind her and it's working.
Ashley, what do you think of that?
Ashley: Yes, I mean it is a smart strategy. I think at first everyone thought that Brad wanted to have kids and she wanted to focus on her career. But now she is showing "hey! I'm great! I'm moving on." And it's working for her. She definitely is moving on.
She is handled this, I think, with a fair amount of dignity and class. Ashley, do you think that her stock has gone up as a result?
Ashley: Oh, absolutely. I think so many people are looking at her and seeing her looking radiant, more beautiful than she's ever looked, with Vince Vaughn, has a great movie career and she's handling this beautifully. I mean, she's doing wonderful, and is saying that she doesn't want to be part of everything that's going on, again, you said the sick twisted "Bermuda Triangle". She's, says she's doing great. She wants to live her life and move on.
Uh, so Katrina, she said she's exhausted2 from all this coverage3. I bet too,it's been going on for years.
Katrina: She must be exhausted. Yes. Well, see, you know I have to say at the Oscar she did look a little bit exhausted, and I think that's not surprising but at the same time we have to remember that Jen sort of went out to tell her story in the Vanity Fair piece, and she sort of almost invited what she's now describing as a "Pitt"-y party.
But she stayed quiet for a very long time before she did that big interview.
Katrina: She sure did, but then when she came out she was definitely out there. And I think that's what garnered4 the sympathy that she's now twisting in saying: OK, enough.
Do you think it, you think women like her more now than they did before?
Katrina: Women loved Jen Aniston, and I think she's always been popular with women. But now that she was very famously dumped, by Brad Pitt, for one of the most beautiful women in the world, Angelina Julie, I think every women, woman out there definitely is using, you know, the cliché, "You go, Girl!"
You say, you are saying she's getting sympathy points from every corner. I, I think she's handled herself pretty well through all this. I mean maybe her stock/star has not just gone up among women but also men as well. Ashley, the other thing in this interview she did not mention was Brad Pitt and Angelina by name. That strike you as significant?
Ashley: Nope, yeah, she, she's really not mentioned them much at all. The Vanity Fair piece she did, er, you know, she, one of reasons, I think, she did get so much sympathy which we haven't talked about is that she cried during the Vanity Vair piece with the mention of the rumor6 of Angelina Julie being pregnant with Brad Pitt's baby, and you know, that she bit her lip, her eyes filled with tears, I mean, she was very emotional about it. Now she didn't say their name[s] in the Vogue piece. She said the sick twisted Bermuda Triangle which we all assume, it's, you know, it's Brad, her, and Angelina. Um, so she hasn't said their name[s] which I think is good for her. I think, you know, she's trying not to dwell on it. But she has to definitely talk about it.
She said when people feel sorry for her, it makes her skin crawl.
Katrina: That's direct.
Yes Thanks to both of you. Thanks Ashley, thanks Katrina here in New York.
Thank you! Thank you!
