There were a lot of people pulling for you when your name is called out in here. There was an eruption1 of applause2. Um, what is your reaction to, to finally getting it? Did you feel like this was your year and also being from Boston, er, there was a big response in our city. And what does that mean to you?

Well, I, I, you know, it was an overwhelming3, overwhelming, overwhelming moment for me. I , I must say that, that I didn't know when, when people say it's your year, your year, you know, I, thank god, we've been able to make so many films over the past 36 years, um, without winning awards, but um, but we've been able to get the pictures made. And so, um, this comes as a, I am so glad to have, have, this comes as an extraordinary surprise and quite honestly, er, surprise for Best Picture, too, bigger surprise. Um, I was very surprised when I won the Director's Guild4 of America. And er, umm, you know, I have, I'd just been used to not winning it, so I just make the movies, guys, if it's about making a film, right? I mean it’s not about winning the stuff, but in the mean time, you win something, that means you're really appreciated. And I have to be grateful for it. You know, and I am really thankful for the people in Boston, too, who, who did, who really did a great job and that great group, the you Dropkick Murphys, who did Shipping5 out to Boston with Robbie Robertson and gave me to put in the opening credits of the picture.

We're going to 188, next (is) 291.

Congratulations, I wanna thank you (Thank you) so is the acquired image. Also ask you the same question: if in the bottom of your heart, you thought this was your year and also, what did it feel like to have your friends, er, you know?

Well , that was an extraordinary moment when the three of them came out and gave me a look. Er, Francis and George, and Francis Coppola and George, and George Lucas. And Steven Spielberg, I mean, you know, we go back, Steven, like, go back to 68, 69. Francis Coppola in 1970; George, in 1970, so we've, I just went up to San Francisco to see Francis and his new film which is quite wonderful at the, at the George's new theater on Thursday. So, you know, we've been proved a day and prove it for me, Francis certain has been like a big brother in my life. For Spielberg and Gorge6 Lucas, I have a, um, particularly in that first 10 or 12 years in the 70s through early 80s, you know, worked together, really worked together, um, and helped each other with each other’s films and worked together and really they were mean: It was always like a private little film school and to see the 3 of them walk out and give me a look before they open the envelope. I was very, I was very surprised.

The whole planet was rooting for you tonight(I), and I think that(yeah), I think that what a couple of journalists have been trying to get out of you is when your name was called, was it the word "finally" is what popped into your mind?
It’s a good question. I finally, it, um, I kept saying I told Leslie outside. You know, good thing I didn’t get it before. It’s a good thing I waited and good thing I, you know, yeah, because maybe, maybe it would have changed the kind of movies I made or something. I couldn’t trust myself. I don’t know if I was stronger enough if I got it before, quite honestly, You know, I am glad that I won this way, and when I saw that smile on his face, on Steven’s face, you know, something is up, you know, but I am glad, I am glad, I am glad it's taken this long. It's been worthy7.
