69-year-old Larry Crotts was supposed to graduate from the Berkley Michigan High School with the class of 66, but he was otherwise engaged, having joined the Navy¹ to fight in the Vietnam War.

When he got out of the service, he got his GED, but that wasn't good enough for his mother:
