A diplomatic Pope Francis telling journalists on route home from Azerbaijan that “the people are sovereign” and he will not interfere¹ in the U.S. or any electoral campaign.

教皇方济各从阿塞拜疆返回的途中告诉记者，“人民是独立自主的”，他不会干预美国或任何国家的选举活动。

The 79-year-old Argentinean said Catholics unsure of whether to vote for Republican candidate Donald Trump² or the Democrat³ Hillary Clinton should study the issues, pray and “vote with your conscience.”

Earlier however, on a trip last year from Mexico the Pope was asked about Trump’s plan to build a wall and said, “anyone who builds walls is not Christian⁴.”
