The lawsuit¹, filed in D.C. superior court says there’s no way to compete against the restaurant in President Trump²’s international hotel, less than two miles away.

Khalid Pitts and Diane Gross, owners of Cork³ Wine Bar and Cork Market & Tasting Room aren’t seeking monetary⁴ damages. Instead they say the President should resign, close the hotel, or divest⁵ himself from it while he’s in office to remedy the violation⁶ of local law against unfair competition. They also insist politics has nothing to do with it.

The lead attorney for the Trump organization calls the lawsuit a wild publicity⁷ stunt⁸, completely lacking in legal merit. The President retains ownership of his businesses, but passed management on to his two adult sons and a senior executive.
