Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood1 has called for a wave of protests this Friday following President Mohammed Morsi's ouster.
The head of Egypt's constitutional court, Adly Mansour, who is now the country's new interim2 leader, has pledged to hold elections based on the "genuine people's will".
However, the Muslim Brotherhood says it refuses to cooperate with the new leadership.
Meantime, there are concerns Islamist violence could break out in retaliation3 for Morsi's ouster.
At least one soldier has reportedly been killed and three others injured in an armed attack by Islamist militants4 in North Sinai.
Now for more on the unrest in Egypt, we are joined on the line by David Keyton, CRI's Special Correspondent in Cairo.
