A little girl was lost，so she went up to a policeman and said, "I've lost my mom!"

 

The cop said, "What's she like?"

 

The little girl replied, "Shopping and gossiping!"

有一个小女孩儿走丢了，于是她走到一个警察跟前说：“我妈妈不见了！”

 

这个句子中有两个lost，第一个是形容词，表“迷路的”， 第二个是动词lost的过去分词，表“失去、遗失"

lost [lɒst] adj.迷賂的 lose [lu:z] v.失去；遗失

go up to走近…；到…地方去

 

2. The cop said, "What’s she like?"

这个警察说：“他什幺样予？”

 

cop是由动词cop(逮捕)演变而来的，“警察”也可以说成 policeman，police officer¹。要称呼他们则用officer。

What's she like? = What is she like? (她什么样子？)。不要和What does she like? (她喜欢什么？）弄混了。“像”和“喜欢”都like,但是“像”是介词，而“喜欢”则是动词。
