第724期:A long face真的不是大长脸, 如何用face表达你的情绪呢?

 

看到“A long face”，你的第一反应是什么呢？难不成是“长脸”的意思吗？ 其实“A long face”指的是“板着脸”、拉长着脸”、“不高兴”。

A long face = an unhappy or gloomy; feeling disappointed or depression

long face可不是“中式英语”，因为全人类不高兴时，恐怕都会拉长脸，所以，long face 并不是Chinglish哟！

杰克，你为什么拉长着脸呢 ?

Sara had such a long face yesterday after she learned that she failed her exam.

2014年被加入到牛津词典中

据牛津词典的解释：Someone's face when their lips are pushed outwards², especially in photographs.

Duck face（鸭嘴脸），

指的是 “噘嘴自拍的夸张表情”。嘟着嘴自拍

Emma is obsessed³ with taking duck face selfies. I've really had enough!

Emma痴迷于拍嘟嘴的自拍。我真是受够了！
