4. Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama has announced he's resigning. He made the announcement today after breaking a campaign promise to move a US marine⁴ base off the southern island of Okinawa. The prime minister was facing growing pressure from within his own party to resign ahead of July elections.
