Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is going to be tried again in January. But this time he'll stand trial alone.
Prosecutors1 dismissed all corruption2 charges against his brother Thursday. Rod Blagojevich says he believes federal authorities never thought he was guilty of any crime. But they were using him as leverage3 against his brother.
The Tennessee businessman worked as the former governor's campaign manager for about four months in 2008. Both men have been accused in an alleged4 plot to sell President Barack Obama's old senate seat.
Judge James Zagel says he probably won't allow the former governor more than two taxpayer-funded attorneys during his retrial. But he may allow more lawyers if they volunteer their time or they are paid for by a benefactor5.
Blagojevich says he is broke after paying his legal team, which included six attorneys and as many as 20 aides during the first trial.
