President Barack Obama addressed the annual gathering¹ of the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday. He vowed² to lead a coalition³ to end what he called the Islamic State militant⁴ group's network of death. His remarks come as the U.S. military expands its campaign against the militants⁵.

Officiers with the New York City Police Department are under fire. This after an amateur video purportedly⁶ shows a pregnant woman thrown to the ground by uniformed police. NYPD internal affairs is investigating.

Unrest in Ferguson, Missouri. More than 100 protesters demonstrated Tuesday night. 5 people were arrested and 2 officers injuried. Officials say it's not clear if a fire at a makeshift memorial for slain⁷ Michael Brown led to the unrest.

And India is celebrating a successful space mission after putting a spacecraft into orbit around Mars. India hopes the galactic feat⁸ will show the world it is open for business in space exploration.
