President Barack Obama led a Memorial Day rememberance at Arlington National Cemetery¹ just hours after returning from an unannouced trip to visit U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The president paid tribute to those lost in battle and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Ukraine's military launched airstirkes on Monday against separatists who had taken over the airport in the eastern capital of Donetsk. Heavy shelling was heard from the airport as dense² black smoke rose in the air.

China's government says flooding over the past week in the country's south has killed 37, left 6 missing and forced almost half a million people from their homes. And more thunderstorms were in the forecast.

And 5 white tiger cubs³ recently born in a zoo in Austria were shown to the public. The zoo owner says it is rare for a tiger to bear so many cubs in one litter. He credits the Austrian air for their good health.
