New York governor Andrew Cuomo is encouraging New Yorkers to go about their business usual, a day after an explosion injured 29 people on a busy Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea. 1000 additional law enforcement officers are being deployed1 throughout the city. Federal investigators2 are examining evidence from the explosion.
2. An Islamic State run news agency claims the man who stabbed and wounded eight man on a mall in Minnesota before being shot dead by an off-duty police officer was a soldier of the Islamic state. All eight victims in the attack were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening wounds. All but one were later released.
3. Suspected rebels using guns and grenades sneaked3 into a crucial army base in India-controlled Kashmir earlier on Sunday, killing4 at least 17 soldiers. Army officials say it was the deadliest attack on the military base in the region in recent years.
4. Thousands of Serbian riot police cordoned5 off central Belgrade for a gay pride match which was held amid fear of attacks from extremists. Holding banners and flags, several hundreds people matched in the downtown area as helicopters flew above.
