Congressional Republicans are preparing to hear directly from President Trump¹ on Thursday as he heads to Philadelphia. Trump is expected to speak to House and Senate GOP lawmakers in Philly for their annual policy retreat.

British Prime Minister Teresa May left 10 Downing Street as she prepares to head to Washington to become the first foreign leader to meet with President Trump. May's visit will include various meetings at the White House on Friday.

Italy's Prime Minister acknowledged delays and malfunctionings in the initial rescue efforts at the avalanche-struck hotel in Farindola. The Prime Minister told lawmakers investigation² is underway after local authorities brushed off the first alarms.

And bad weather and heavy snowfall has disrupted life in Indian-controlled Kashmir with avalanches³ reported in parts of the Himalayan region. Officials evacuated⁴ dozens from high-risk areas as a result.
