1. The senate appears to head for a showdown over president Donald Trump's supreme1 court nominee2. Democrats3 have secured the votes for filibuster4 to block the nominee of Neil Gorsuch. But senate majority leader Mitch McConnell is poised5 to change long standing6 senate rules, the so-called nuclear operation to get Gorsuch confirmed .
2. The White House is condemning7 what it describes as a "Heinous8" criminal attack against civilians9 by the Syrian government. Spokesman Sean Spicer said the attack is reprehensible10 and can't be ignored by the civilized11 world.
3. A spring storm has dumped up to a foot of snow in some parts of Colorado. Forecasters have predicted about an inch but the snow storm dumped at least 8 inches in Denver and up to a foot in the mountains.
4. And a stunning12 almost 60 carat diamond known as the "Pink Star" sold for a record $71.2 millions at the Sotheby’s auction13 in Hong Kong on Tuesday. The sale of the Oval mixed-cut diamond reportedly set a new world record for any diamond or jewel sell.
