Democrats¹ are intensifying² their calls for an independent commission to probe any Trump³ campaign ties to Russia and the president's firing of FBI Director James Comey. But House Speaker Paul Ryan cautioned against "rushing to judgement". The White House is denying the president pressed Comey to put the brakes on the FBI investigation⁴. Trump complained at a commencement speech that "no politician in history" has been treated worse than he has.

The Turkish government and Washington's mayor traded blame Wednesday for violence outside Turkey's embassy, where President Erdogan's security staff broke up an anti-government protest. Nine people were hurt, and two were arrested.

Hundreds of law enforcement members served arrest and search warrants in Los Angeles as part of a three-year investigation into the ultra-violent street gang MS-13. Dozens of members and leaders were charged with a variety of crimes, including murder.

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus will give its last show this weekend. The Associated Press was granted extensive access to day-to-day life with the preformers during the days of Ringling's last run in Providence⁵.
