Jackson, Mississippi police say someone shot 2 small children in a car that their mother was driving. The children were hospitalized in stable condition. Police were searching for a suspect.

And heavy rains brought flash floods to fire-stricken areas of northern California. Crews used boats to rescue people stuck in homes and vehicles.
