CIA director Mike Pompeo went to North Korea about two weeks ago to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Two officials confirmed the trip to the Associated Press. It comes ahead of President Trump's planned meeting with Kim.

The National Transportation Safety Board says a preliminary exam shows evidence of metal fatigue¹ on the Southwest Airlines jet engine that blew apart amid air. One female passenger died. The plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia.

The largest wildfire in Oklahoma has now burned at least 384 square miles. Hot, dry, windy weather created dangerous fire conditions there and in areas of Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, and Colorado.
