President Trump¹'s former lawyer Michael Cohen is scheduled to begin 3 years in prison on Monday. Cohen was sentenced for crimes including campaign finance violations² for hush-money payments made on Mr. Trump's behalf.

Two days of fighting between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza suddenly stopped on Monday. No official cease-fire was immediately announced. Israel lifted some protective restrictions³ and a Hamas militant⁴ group radio station reported that a cease-fire was reached.

Investigators⁵ say the pilots of a plane that skidded⁶ into a river asked to change landing runways. The pilots make the request shortly before trying to land in Jacksonville, Florida.

Financial markets in Asia took a steep dive on Monday. They were responding to a new threat from President Trump to hike tariffs⁷ on goods from China.
