Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been convicted of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd. The jury deliberated for ten hours. Chauvin could spend decades in prison.

President Biden said the Chauvin conviction can be a giant step forward in the fight against systemic racism¹. Biden spoke² along with Vice³ President Kamala Harris and called for Congress to enact⁴ policing reform.

There were protests in Columbus, Ohio, after police say an officer shot and killed a teenage girl on Tuesday. Police released officer body cam video hours after the shooting and said the girl was trying to stab two people with a knife.
