　　"It's of no use, Mrs. Templar; “没有用，坦普勒夫人。

　　I have been trying the greater part of an hour 我已经花了近一个钟头

　　to catch that rogue of a horse. 来捉住这匹淘气的马，

　　She won't be caught." 但怎么也捉不住她。”

　　Such was the report the hired man brought in to Mrs. Templar 这就是雇工带给坦普勒夫人的报告，

　　they say she jumped the ditch three or four times, 他们说她跳到沟里三四次，

　　and acted like a wild creature. 就像只野兽一样。

　　You'll only be late at school, 你只会上学迟到，

　　"It won't take me long, mother. “不会很久的，妈妈。

　　Fanny will come to me," said Jenny, cheerily. 范妮会到我这儿来的。”珍妮兴高采烈地说。

　　She put on her wide straw hat, 她戴上她的宽草帽，

　　and was off in a moment, down the hill, 离开一小会儿，下山到了田野。

　　That gentle tone she well knew, 她很熟悉那温和的声音，

　　and, glad to see her friend, 于是很高兴见到她的朋友，

　　she came directly to the fence, 径直跑到栅栏旁，

　　and rubbed her head on the girl's shoulder. 用头在小姑娘的肩膀上蹭了蹭，

　　As soon as the gate was opened, 这时大门打开了，

　　she followed Jenny to the barn. 她跟着珍妮一起进入了马厩。

　　The men had treated her roughly, 人们对她太粗暴了，

　　and she remembered it. 她也记住了这些。

　　But she knew and loved the voice that was always kind, 不过，她了解并喜欢那些十分亲切的声音，

1 rogue
