　　And indeed, that's where we're headed: the universe is expanding and diluting¹, and eventually all the stars will burn out and black holes will evaporate and we'll be left with nothing but emptiness in every direction. At that point, time's arrow will have disappeared, and nothing like life or consciousness will be possible.

　　的确，这正是我们将面临的状况：宇宙正在扩张并削弱，最终所有的星星都会燃烧殆尽、黑洞也会消逝，而我们将变得一无所有，四方只剩下一片虚无。届时，时间的指向已然消失，像生命或意识这类的东西也将不可能会存在了。
