 Israel and Hamas have agreed to a 3-day ceasefire starting tomorrow morning local time.Daniel Estrin reports from Jerusalem.The agreement is based on an Egyptian proposal that would bring both sides to Cairo to work on a permanent ceasefire agreement.The Israeli Prime Minister's office says if this ceasefire holds,Israel has no reason to have its troops on the ground in Gazon a.Israel says it will be watching closely to see if Hamas actually holds fire.On Friday,both sides had agreed to a similar ceasefire.But shortly after it was supposed to go into effect,fighting resumed with each side accusing the other of opening fire first.The US and Israel blamed Hamas.For NPR news I'm Daniel Estrin in Jerusalem.

 
 
The American missionary1 who's contracted ebola received an experimental treatment of antibodies provided by a company in Santiago.That's according to federal health officials.NPR's Richard Harris has that story.Doctors had been infusing antibodies to people since the days before antibiotics2.The concept is that these antibodies can target and kill certain germs.Several labs have been working on custom antibodies to attack ebola.That includes a company in Santiago called Mapp Biopharmaceuticals.CNN first reported that the company provided a sample of its experimental products to two American missionaries3 in west Africa who had contracted the disease.Federal health officials have confirmed that report.The company says it hasn't yet carried out safety test of the drug in people and very little of the experimental material is available.Richard Harris NPR news.
 
 
How sweet it is,how long it took From the White House Press Secretary James Brady in 1993,expressing his joy in congressional approval of the handgun law that bears his name.Brady's family announced his death today.Brady became his crusade for gun control after he was shot and wounded during a 1981 assassination4 attempt against then president Renold Regan.Brady was with the president when the assailant John Hinckley fired multiple rounds as Regan stepped out of a Washington hotel.Brady was the most seriously wounded.He suffered damages to the right side of his brain which left him partially5 paralysed.James Brady was 73 years old.
 
 
According to New York's top financial regulator,the nation's largest overseer of troubled mortgages is being investigated on charges that the firm allegedly overcharged struggling homeloaners for insurance.According to New York's financial superintendent,he's looking at whether the first,Ocwen Financial,created complex arrangements to allow it to funnel6 as much as 65 million dollars to another firm led by former executives of that company.According to regulators,the extra insurance burden may have helped push already struggling families over the foreclosure cliff.
 
 
Stocks move higher today on Wall Street.The Dow Jones Industrial Average gains 75 points to end the session at 16,569.The Nasdaq rose 31 points to 43.83.The S&P 500 was up 13 points.

It's apparently7 safe to drink the water in Toledo,Ohio again at least for now.That city's mayor early today announcing a lifting of drinking water ban.The city of some 400,000 people was put in place over the weekend due to an algae-induced toxin8 contamination in Lake Erie.Mayor Michael Collins saying contamination of the water has now returned to normal levels.It's still not clear whether the problem was centered near where the city gets its drinking water from or some other problem like an aging water system was partly responsible.
 
 
After several days of rapid growth,the 36,000-acre Oregan Gulch9 Fire along the Oregan-California border is slowing giving crews a chance to catch their breath.From Jefferson Public Radio,Liam Moriaty reports.The fire sparked by lightning in federal forest land last Wednesday,was growing 10,000 acres a day going into the weekend.But by Sunday night,the fire's advance has slowed.Don Hickman,with the Oregan Department of Forestry,says incident managers are pleased with their progress.When it's quiet,crews can actually get up closer,we get more equipment and we can fly other resources,we can get a lot of work done when the condition is a little calmer.That low may not last.Weather forecasters are predicting thunderstorms and high winds which could reinvigorate the blaze.Several other fires are threatening homes and power lines in northern California including the 26,000-acre Eiler fire which forced the hospital evacuation in the town of Burney.For NPR news I'm Liam Moriaty in Ashland,Oregon.
 
 
Restaurant chain P.F.Chang's is providing additional details about what the company says was a data breach10 that occured over this year involving stolen debit11 and credit cards from 33 of its restaurant locations.The company says the breach affected12 restaurants in Baltimore,St Louis,Pittburg,Austin,Texas,and Charlotte North Carolina.
