From NPR news in Washington, I'm BC. Secretary of State, John Carrie, says the U.S will increase the refugees it will accept from around the world to 100,000 in the next two years. From Berlin, NPR SN reports that's 30,000 more than the current US-kept refugees.Carrie announced the increase in a meeting with his German counterpart. They discussed hundreds of thousands of refugees coming to Germany and elsewhere in Europe in recent months. Many of them are Syrian. The white house says earlier this month that US will take in at least 10,000 Syrian refugees next year, raising the ceiling for all refugees around the world to 85,000 in fiscal1 year that starts in October allows that increase. Carrie says the US administration will explore ways to increase the limit of refugees in future years while carrying out background check to ensure there are no terrorists among those America takes in. Congress also has to approve of the funding to resettle new refugees.SN NPR news, Berlin.
