(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
Congratulations America! You are no longer the world’s most obese1 country. But it may be a little too early to start celebrating . This does not mean Americans are getting thinner, just that another country has gotten fatter.
Mexico now has the highest percentage of obese people compared to any other major country in the world . At the same time , Mexico is still struggling with malnutrition2 and hunger. Around 70 percent of Mexican adults are overweight . More strikingly, almost 33 percent of the population is obese. In comparison, 31.8 percent of American adults are considered to be obese. The new statistics come from a survey carried out by the United Nations' Food and Agricultural Organization.
Some have criticized the report. They claim that the numbers are skewed, because the survey was carried out in the poorer Southern part of the country, where there are more problems with malnutrition and obesity3.
