Topic 1-15 Square meter public housing: new public rental¹ housing policy in Beijing

 

According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, a new standard for public rental housing program in Beijing is put into use in Feb. 2017. Highlights include allowing the smallest apartment to have a usable floor area of 15 square meters.

 

Other issues such as the convenience of transportation, and the prevention of cooking smoke from traveling between neighbors are addressed as well.
