 And somehow, at the time, I felt a sympathy and a sorrow for him, but for I don't know what, unless it was the cruel loss of his leg.  不知怎的,那时,我对他感到同情和悲伤,但我不知道,除非是非常残忍的方式使他失去了腿。

However, my thoughts were at length carried in other directions, so that for the present dark Ahab slipped my mind.  好在很快我的思绪就转到别的事情上去了。神秘的亚哈就暂时从我脑子里消失了。
