"What's the matter? He was heading east, I think.—Is your Captain crazy?" whispering Fedallah. "怎么啦？它是朝东去的，我想——你的船长疯啦？"他悄悄地问费达拉。

But Fedallah, putting a finger on his lip, slid over the bulwarks to take the boat's steering⁶ oar⁴, 可是，费达拉把一只手指放在唇上，悄悄地滑过了舷墙，去拿起小艇的舵桨，

and Ahab, swinging the cutting-tackle towards him commanded the ship's sailors to stand by to lower. 于是亚哈一边把那复滑车摇到他面前，一边要船上的水手把他自己放下去。

In a moment he was standing⁷ in the boat's stern, and the Manilla men were springing to their oars⁸. 不一会，他已站在小艇梢上，那些马尼拉水手都在拼命扳桨了。

In vain the English Captain hailed him. 那个英国船长徒劳地跟他打招呼。

With back to the stranger ship, and face set like a flint to his own, Ahab stood upright till alongside of the Pequod. 亚哈背着那艘陌生船，面孔一如其人地充满着决心，笔挺地站在那里，直站到小艇靠拢"裴廓德号"。
