Top NewsChina to bust7 illicit securities tradingAnchorEyes are on the Chinese stock market as more than 300 companies have announced resumption of trading today, a move believed to further boost investors9' confidence in the volatile10 market.
CRI's Niu Honglin has more.
ReporterOver 360 companies announced last night they will resume trading on Monday, marking the highest number of resumptions in a single day in recent weeks.
Most of the companies say the decision was made as major shareholders11 increased holdings and company leaders came up with measures to stabilize12 stock prices under the central government's series of prop-up measures.
In the meantime, China's securities regulator has issued a statement, vowing13 to strictly14 crack down on illicit securities trading.
The China Securities Regulatory Commission says it will standardize15 securities accounts after finding some agencies and individuals set up virtual accounts or traded with borrowed accounts.
The commission also urged local authorities to verify the authenticity16 of securities accounts and be more strict when supervising them.
The move is believed to target illicit financing.
The securities regulator also urged brokers17 to standardize external access to information systems.
Also, the Public Security Ministry18 is said to have found clues that certain trading firms have allegedly manipulated futures19 trading in the stock market.
The investigation20, started on last Thursday, is being led by Vice21 Minister of Public Security Meng Qingfeng.
The investigation team visited the head office of the China Securities Regulatory Commission on Thursday to investigate what it called "malicious22 short-selling of stocks and stock indices".
Short selling is believed to be part of the reason for the stock market nosedive over the past few weeks.
The team arrived in Shanghai on Friday to search for further clues on such illegal practices.

Thailand's repatriation of illegal immigrants to China lawful23, experts sayExperts and scholars say Thailand's recent repatriation of over 100 illegal immigrants to China conforms with international practice as the crackdown on illegal immigration is an international responsibility and obligation.
China's Ministry of Public Security has confirmed that the 109 illegal immigrants had been on their way to Turkey, Syria or Iraq to join the so-called "jihad".
Among them, 13 had fled China after being implicated24 in terrorist activities, and another two had escaped detention25.
Bambang Suryono, president of the Nanyang ASEAN Foundation based in Jakarta, says China and Thailand agreed to cooperate in repatriating26 illegal Uygur immigrants of Chinese nationality.
He says the move will help fight human smuggling27 and international human trafficking.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab al-Saket, a former Arab League ambassador to China, says it is normal and reasonable for Thailand to repatriate28 those Chinese citizens at the request of China, adding the repatriation is in accordance with the rules of the two countries and international law.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has said his government has fully29 adhered to "laws and international obligations" by identifying the nationalities of the Uygur immigrants and sending them back to their own country.
Vice president of China's top court probed for graftXi Xiaoming, vice president of China's top court, is being investigated for "serious violations30 of discipline and laws".
A statement announcing the probe was issued by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection31 on Sunday.
No details have been released yet.
Xi Xiaoming joined the Supreme32 People's Court in 1982.
Police Arrests Suspected Paid Protest OrganizersAnchorChinese police have published details on a series of incidents in which the detainees are suspected of illegally organizing paid protests, hyping public sentiment and fabricating rumors33 on the Internet to sway court decisions.
CRI's qizhi reports.
ReporterAccording to a statement published by the Ministry of Public Security, the detainees include lawyers as the core organizers, and social media celebrities34 and petitioners36 who are in charge of planning and implementation38.
The group of suspects was led by the Beijing-based Fengrui Law Firm.
Zhai Yanmin, a major organizer of the group, exposes the methods of the lawyers at the heart of the allegations.
"They yelled in court so as to put pressure onto judges. Once they were removed from the courtroom, they would meet with petitioners onsite, who carried signs and shouted slogans to keep pressuring judges and sway court decisions. "The police statement says the organizers have disrupted public order and sought profits by hiring protesters and swaying court decisions in the name of "defending justice and public interests."Petitioners took part in these incidents because they not only received payment but also received more attention for their own court cases from government officials.
A suspect surnamed Ning is one of them.
"They told us that we can arouse attention by participating in those protests. If we were present (at sites of controversial incidents), the local government would be informed, which will help us solve problems of our own as higher-ranked officials would urge local government (to handle our complaints). "The group is accused of organizing more than 40 controversial incidents since July 2012.
One of the recent high-profile cases was related to the shooting incident in Qingan County in northeast China.
A man named Xu Chunhe was shot dead in May at a local railway station after attacking a police officer several times despite the officer's multiple warnings.
Lawyers from Fengrui Law Firm then spread rumors that the police officer was directed to open fire because Xu was a petitioner35.
The firm further spread online rumors that the incident was a murder conspiracy39 and organized several protests.
Zhou Shifeng, director of Fengrui Law Firm, has been arrested, along with Wu Gan and Zhai Yanmin.
Further investigation of the case is underway.

China on yellow alert for high temperaturesThe National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures as China is entering the height of summer.
A heat wave will hit central, eastern and northern China today with temperatures in some regions rising to around 40 degrees Celsius40.
Since mid-May, some northern regions have been suffering from drought due to continued hot weather. Miyun Reservoir, one of Beijing's major water sources, has shrunk about 39 percent over the past year.
Wang Hua, premier41 weather broadcaster from the Beijing Meteorological Bureau says the capital will see a change in the weather later this week.
"Starting from next Wednesday, due to the impact of the upper vortex, Beijing will enter a stage with multiple thunderstorms. The temperature will also drop accordingly, with a high of around 30 degrees Celsius in the day and a low of 22 at night."China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
Typhoon Chan-hom continues its impact in Shandong pronvinceTyphoon Chan-Hom brought strong winds and heavy rain to the coastal43 areas of east China's Shandong Province as it passed nearby on Sunday.
The city of Yantai issued a yellow alert warning of strong gales44 of up to level 10 on the Beaufort scale.
Xing Zhiliang, a Police officer on Zhifu island, says all fishing boats were recalled to ports after the alert was issued.
"We recalled all fishing boats to ports as soon as we received the alert information for typhoon. So far more than 500 fishing boats have returned to ports to take shelter from wind."The city of Qingdao also launched an emergency response, dispatching over 280 teams to prevent possible flooding or wind damage.
The typhoon made landfall in Zhejiang Province on Saturday and has since moved northeast on the sea.
It is expected to make landfall in North Korea this morning.
Beijing plans subsidiary administrative45 centerAnchorThe Chinese capital is to speed up building a subsidiary administrative center in its east suburb, after the city's lawmakers passed a guideline to promote the integration46 of Beijing, Tianjin, and the province of Hebei.
CRI's Wang Wei has more.
ReporterLi Shixiang, executive vice mayor of Beijing, says the "subsidiary administrative center" will be based in Tongzhou, a suburban47 district in the city's southeast.
The district is adjacent to the commercial-heavy urban district of Chaoyang and has advantages in infrastructure48 and transportation among the city's suburbs.
The guideline says authorities are aiming to achieve "remarkable49 progress" on the construction of the subsidiary administrative center by 2017.
The Chinese capital has sought to address severe problems such as traffic congestion50 and air pollution, by curbing52 its population growth and moving some facilities to nearby regions.
"In particular, the spatial53 structure of the six urban districts will be changed. For example, now our citizens need to buy vegetables, see a doctor in their community, park their vehicles, but there's no room for it. We must have space for what the citizens need most to increase their happiness index."Li Shixiang also says the construction is not just as easy as constructing several buildings and moving administrative functions there.
"It is about how to develop and what should be developed. It's about spatial functions and overall functions. All of them need rigorous planning and full arguments. I believe next we will create a good environment and take precautions against the morbid54 state in city administration. In this way, we can establish a subsidiary administrative center of Beijing with scientific planning and orderly management."The announcement says moving out some of Beijing's non-capital functions will be a top priority in the strategy of integrating Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
The capital has also accelerated the pace of industrial restructuring and has taken a more stringent55 attitude on floating population registration56.
Over the past year, a number of wholesale57 markets in the city's central areas were shut down or relocated.
The municipal government promises to limit its population to 23 million.
Official data shows Beijing's total population stood at 21.5 million last year.

Eurozone leaders try to reach a debt deal with GreeceAnchorEurozone leaders are in Brussels to try to reach a debt deal with Greece.
The talks were temporarily suspended to allow a bilateral58 meeting between the heads of Germany, France and Greece, with leaders telling Greece to implement37 swift reforms this week to receive a bailout or leave the euro currency and risk the collapse59 of its banking60 system.
Our Correspondent Natalie Powell looks at how talks unfoldedReporterEurozone Finance Ministers left the Eurogroup meeting on Sunday with a little more optimism than they'd had going into it.
The previous day, the group spent 9 hours in talks to try to reach an agreement on a working plan for a third Greek bailout, with little success.
On concluding their second round of discussions on the subject, the Finnish Finance Minister, Alex Stubb, said he and his eurozone counterparts had drafted an ambitious proposal.
"I think there's a very good proposal on the table…. It has far-reaching conditionality….
For us the most important thing is that if we were to open negotiations61 on ESM (European Stability Mechanism) this whole package has to be approved by both the Greek Government and the Greek Parliament."That proposal was then handed to Eurozone leaders to discuss at a later summit in Brussels….Where all eyes were on Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, with his country's fate hanging in the balance.
"I'm here ready for an honest compromise. We owe that to the peoples of Europe who want Europe united and not divided. We can reach an agreement tonight if all parties want it."Germany's Chancellor62 Angela Merkel though entered the Eurozone leaders summit in a more pessimistic mood, calling the discussions over Greece's bailout extremely difficult.
"There will be no agreement at any price. I know everyone is on the edge. But we have to ensure that that the advantages outweigh63 the disadvantages, namely for the future of Greece as well as for the euro zone as a whole and the principles of our cooperation."Opposing his German counter part, French President Francois Hollande however, said he was going to do everything he could to keep Greece in the Euro.
"There is no temporary Grexit, there is a Grexit or no Grexit. Or to spell it out in French: Greece is in the euro zone or Greece is no longer in the euro zone, but in that case it's a Europe that retreats and does not progress, and I don't want this."After six months of negotiations, the coming days will be crucial for the single currency.
But questions will be raised over how damaging these lengthy64 discussions on Greece have been to the eurozone's credibility and whether the group will be able to come back from this.
For CRI, I'm Natalie Powell in Brussels.
Iran nuclear deal to be announced Monday: diplomatsDiplomatic sources in Vienna where the Iran nuclear talks are underway say negotiators plan to announce an historic deal on Monday, capping nearly a decade of diplomacy65 that would curb51 Tehran's atomic program in return for sanctions relief.
Final details of the pact42 are said to be still under work.
A spokesman for the Iranian delegation66 has revealed that it's a 100-page document.
In a sign that something might be in the works, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Vienna and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is reportedly due on Sunday local time.
A Western official has said Tehran and Washington would need time to consult their capitals once an agreement was reached.
Commenting on a possible deal, US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says President Barack Obama could face hurdles67 in Congress.
"Well, look, we already know that it's going to leave Iran as a threshold nuclear state. We know that. It appears as if the administration's approach to this was to reach whatever agreement the Iranians are willing to enter into. So I think it's going to be a very hard sell if it's completed in Congress."Republicans in the US Congress have been criticizing the Obama administration for making too many concessions68 to Iran in the nuclear talks.
The current negotiations have run more than two weeks and blown through three deadlines.
Because the talks are in overtime69, the US Congress will have 60 days to assess any deal reached, requiring Obama to await that review before easing sanctions on Iran.
US Allows Cruises to CubaAnchorAfter decades of embargo70, the US has authorized71 the first cruise service to Cuba in half a century. With the US government licenses72, American cruise giant Carnival73 Corp. has set its sailing date for May of 2016. For more details, here is our reporter He Fei in Washington.
Reporter:
With a 600-dollar deposit, you can now reserve a spot on a voyage from Miami to Cuba on the Fathom74, one of the newest cruise brands under Carnival Corp.
Fathom's President Tara Russell.
"The last couple of days have been our biggest sales days in our first month since we launched the brand so we're getting quite a large volume of interests. The intention would be to begin those Cuban sailings in May and then every other week would be a 7-day itinerary75 back and forth76."The announcement follows reopening of embassies in Washington and Havana announced by the US and Cuban presidents.
Rules for US travel to the island nation have been loosened since last year.
However, leisure travel including traditional cruises is still banned under the US embargo.
The tours that have been approved are "people-to-people" tours, which involve cultural, faith-based and humanitarian77 exchanges between American and Cuban citizens.
Therefore, you won't find casinos or enjoy Broadway shows on board, but maybe something more unique.
"It is also our intention to provide travelers a way to meaningfully have cultural exchange and educational exchange with Cuban people. So we've got Dominican and Cuban inspired menus, music, films. We'll have social-impact workshops and training opportunities on board. We'll have lots of fun activities that allow travelers to engage and get to know the community."According to Russell, the Adonia, which can accommodate 700 passengers, will sail on the new route.
But the relatively78 small ship is able to enter many of Cuba's smaller and shallow ports.
Fares will start at nearly 3000 dollars per person plus taxes and port fees for the week long voyage.
The company has been granted necessary approvals from the US Department of the Treasury79 and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
It is now waiting for the approval of the Cuban government.
Cuba hosted more than 3 million visitors last year.
And it has started to develop its cruise business in the past few years, attracting many Canadians, Europeans and Latin Americans as the US still maintains an embargo and travel ban against the island.

Manhunt underway for escaped Mexican drug lordMexican authorities are questioning 30 employees from a high security prison after the country's most notorious drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman escaped through a tunnel built under his cell.
It's his second jailbreak in 15 years.
Attorney General Arely Gomez says staff at the Altiplano prison in central Mexico are being questioned as a manhunt is underway.
"We already have at the Attorney General's Office 30 people who worked at the prison, who are giving their statements so we can determine what their legal situation will be and what other elements we can get."Guzman's cartel is believed to control most of the major crossing points for drugs at the US border with Mexico.
The kingpin slipped out of the prison through a tunnel more than 1.5 km long which led to a building site in the local town.
Guzman bribed80 his way out of prison during a previous escape in 2001.
He became one of the world's top crime bosses, running the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, which smuggled81 billions of dollars worth of cocaine82, marijuana and methamphetamines into the United States and fought vicious turf wars with other Mexican gangs.
The flight of Guzman seriously undermines President Enrique Pena Nieto's pledge to bring order to a country racked by years of gang violence, a sentiment shared by many local residents.
"He is taunting83 the government, he is laughing at them and he can do what he wants. I am not going to lie, that is what I think of him, he's got the power.""This is bad. There could be more violence, maybe there will be more violence, but maybe many will be celebrating the escape."The breakout happened in the State of Mexico, the home state of Pena Nieto, who took office in 2012 vowing to confront cartel violence that has killed more than 100,000 people since 2007.
U.S investment immigration increases in popularity among ChineseAnchorInvestment immigration has been an increasingly popular method for Chinese people to become U.S. citizens in the last four years.
CRI's Qian Shanming has more.
ReporterChinese investment immigration has become an important financing method for more than half of the developers in New York.
Many high-end residential84 communities in the U.S. are being built with investment largely from Chinese investment immigration applicants85.
One such community in New York is being built with a 30 percent Chinese immigrant investor8 stake.
Expected to provide 1,600 jobs for neighboring areas, this New York property project is only a start for Jonathan Rabinow, investment director of the property project.
"And because this project has gone so well and this development has gone so well, we are about to embark86 upon our second EB-5 project which is gonna be just about 20 minutes north of here."The investment immigration plan, named Employment Based Fifth Preference, or EB-5, stipulates87 that foreign investors can apply for green cards by investing 500,000 US dollars or more and providing at least 10 jobs.
EB-5 was launched in 1990 and the number of applicants have soared up in the last four years.
The number of green cards issued through the EB-5 program grew from nearly two thousand in the fiscal88 year 2010 to more than ten thousand in 2014.
Jason Jia, an investment immigration lawyer with Yerman & Associates, says the surge in Chinese investment immigration is because of the growth of Chinese high-income earners and the growing employment demands of Chinese overseas students.
"Investment immigration may be the only method for many Chinese families to get green cards if they do not have relatives or jobs in the U.S. This is because Investment immigration has no requirements for language skill, educational background, or work experience."As the EB-5 act expires in September, the U.S congress may prolong the EB-5 act, and increase the investment requirement to 800,000 US dollars.
It may also require stricter auditing89 and supervision90 due to some fraud occurrences with EB-5.
Based on the statistics provided by non-profit organization "Invest in the USA," EB-5 brought the U.S. some 1.5 billion US dollars of investment and 31,000 jobs in 2013.
Peter D. Joseph, executive director of Invest In the USA, says he believes the U.S. congress will continue to support EB-5 as an important financing method.
He adds that judicial91 oversight92 is needed to protect the interests of investors.
"This program has grown quickly as it has, as we discussed earlier, a 700 percent growth in about a six year time period. Investors are also protected by U.S. laws when they are investing in United States, and the federal government here in the U.S. has shown that they are willing to fight for investors when they step in, and if people are trying to take advantage of investors, they'll have to face the long arm of justice here in the U.S.."For CRI, I'm Qian Shanming.

EU leaders split over Greek debt issueEurozone leaders are gathering96 in Brussels for a make-or-break summit over the Greek debt crisis, trying to reach a deal that would pave the way for a third bailout for Greece.
The leaders are discussing new proposals put forward by their finance ministers.
They have reportedly suggested Greece could temporarily leave the currency block if no agreement on a bailout is reached.
However, French President Francois Hollande is said to be strongly opposed to that, pledging to try his best to seek an agreement at the summit.
Without a debt deal in the coming hours, Greece faces financial collapse.

State-owned firms in pay clampdownChina's State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission implemented114 a monthly salary ceiling policy for senior executives of State-owned enterprises, including the five big banks.
Their salary will be limited to within 8,000 yuan, which is a little bit less than 1,300 U.S dollars per month.
This is about 50% cut compared with their salary in the years before.
However they will remain entitled to year-end bonuses if their company performs well.
Previous data shows that bank presidents pocketed incomes exceeding one million yuan a year.
Media reports say this marks the second stage of salary reforms by China's state-owned enterprises.
The salary reform was passed last August to ease public discontent over excessive payment for SOE senior management.

SportsDjokovic Defeats Federer to Win 2015 Wimbledon TitleAnchorIn the most anticipated match of all at Wimbledon, top seed Novak Djokovic defeated seven time Champion Roger Federer in four sets to win his third Wimbledon title and ninth Grand Slam title. CRI's London Correspondent Duan Xuelian has more.
ReporterIt's a match between the world's top two players and people's expectations are high.
Their four-set match lasted nearly 3 hours and was interrupted briefly117 by a rain shower. The first set stretched into a 13th game with Djokovic miraculously118 saving a number of set points. But Federer was able to fight back in the second set, winning the tie breaker by 12 to 10. The third set saw an aggressive Djokovic coming back from a short break and take the last two sets of games 6-4 and 6-3.
So, it's Novak Djokovic again!
Amid the excitement, the Serb repeated his traditional celebration for winning the tournament - eating the Wimbledon grass.
"It tastes very very good this year. I don't know what the grounds people have done but they have done a great job. It's a little tradition obviously. As a kid I was really dreaming of winning Wimbledon, as a child you dream to do something crazy whey you actually achieve it and that's was one of the things. "The Serb's victory shattered Federer's dream of reliving history. Twelve years ago, it was on Centre Court at Wimbledon that he won the first Grand Slam of his career. And it has been three years since he last held the Wimbledon trophy119.
"That's sports, that why we come to watch it just because you don't know the outcome. Of course I had my chance in the first set bringing up a break, second set I'm lucky to win that and had some chances early in the third but that's how it goes, he was tough on the bigger points and in the end he was rock solid. I thought he played great, I didn't play bad myself so I can be very happy as well."For CRI, I'm Duan Xuelian at WimbledonCSL recapTurning to football, in the Chinese Super League,Beijing Guo'an is back on top of the leaderboard after a 4-0 home victory against Hangzhou Greentown.
