 September 6th, 1901President William McKinley is shot at the Pan-American Exposition¹ in Buffalo², New York. The gunman, Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist³ who is executed the following month. Vice⁴ President Teddy Roosevelt succeeds McKinley when he dies more than a week after the shooting.

1997“Goodbye England's rose from a country lost without your soul.” Britain and the world bid farewell to Princess Diana with a funeral service in London's Westminster Abbey. And in Calcutta, India, weeping masses gather to pay homage⁵ to Mother Teresa, a day after her death.
