After four days under 58 centimeters of snow, search teams were amazed to find Donna Molnar alive. A rescue dog called Ace1 sniffed2 her out across a frozen field in Ontario.
She went missing during a violent snow storm when her SUV got stuck. Sergeant3 Mark Cox says she was conscious but wearing just the jackets.
“I can honestly say that I didn’t expect to find her alive, but the hope was there and that’s why we keep going.”
Donna was covered in snow with just her face and her neckline exposed. She’d survived freezing conditions, but the snow insulated her and kept her alive. Her husband David said he feels very lucky.
“The best Christmas gift ever. Certainly could have been a lot worse. I think that God literally4 reached down and cradled her until we could find her.
"He is a four-legged star." Ray Lau from search and rescue was the man that found her. “It was er, yes I guess, right over the top for me. It was really a mile a minute.” Donna’s now been taken to a nearby hospital where she’s been treated for hypothermia.
